Current research shows that 82% of managers are “accidental managers”. These are people that become managers with no experience or qualifications.
Although internal development and promotion is good for business, the rise in accidental managers can cause many issues for businesses, including –
- Inconsistent management
- Lack of confidence to deal with difficult issues and manage teams
- Failure to implement and develop a positive culture
- Lack of trust and confidence in management from the workforce
- Uncompliant management with legislation and requirements
- Failure to provide training and development opportunities
