c2c achieves White Ribbon accreditation

East London and South Essex train operator c2c has achieved prestigious White Ribbon accreditation, demonstrating its commitment to tackling gender inequality, and violence towards women and girls.

White Ribbon is the UK’s leading charity engaging men and boys to end violence against women and girls. White Ribbon’s mission is to prevent men’s violence against women and girls by addressing its root causes and by challenging long-established attitudes, behaviours and systems around masculinity that perpetuate gender inequality and men’s violence against women.

White Ribbon accreditation is a commitment made by workplaces to work towards transformational change in their staff culture, systems and communities.

To qualify for accreditation, c2c established a steering committee and recruited ambassadors from around the organisation to champion the cause, and ensure it was doing all it can to act against gender inequality. c2c also set out an initial action plan to outline the actions that as an organisation it would take to meet its commitments including staff training and building awareness of the campaign.

Rob Mullen, c2c Managing Director, said, “I’m very proud that c2c has achieved White Ribbon Accreditation. As an organisation, we believe it is essential to demonstrate that we care about standing up for women who are facing gender-based inequality. Through this accreditation, we have made a commitment to challenge attitudes, to educate and to provide support to our colleagues and customers.”
