Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) is delighted to announce the opening of its newest charity shop on Canvey Island this December. Located at 39-41 Furtherwick Road, the shop is set to open its doors on 22nd December, just in time for the festive season.
The new store will offer a wide range of pre-loved clothing, bric-a-brac, toys and media, alongside official EHAAT merchandise and a selection of new goods. A standout feature will be a large, dedicated bookshop area—a first for EHAAT and a unique offering for shoppers in Canvey Island.
"The Canvey community has always been incredibly supportive of our work, and we're thrilled to be opening a shop here," said Lee Hodgins, Retail Business Development Manager at Essex & Herts Air Ambulance. "We can't wait to become part of the local high street and meet everyone who pops in, whether to volunteer, donate or shop with us. Every purchase helps us continue our life-saving missions across Essex and Hertfordshire."
Volunteers Needed
To make the shop a success, EHAAT is urgently seeking volunteers to join the team in various roles. Shop floor volunteers are needed to serve customers, manage the till and keep the shop tidy and well-stocked. The team is also looking for sorting room volunteers to accept and sort donations, and bookshop volunteers with an interest in books to manage the dedicated bookshop area. Additionally, ecommerce volunteers are needed to help list items on eBay and AbeBooks, take photographs or assist with dispatch.

Donate and Shop
The shop is now accepting donations at its easy-access donation point at the back door off Folksville Road, behind Sainsbury's. Residents are encouraged to bring along their unwanted clothing, books, bric-a-brac and other items in good condition.
From 22nd December, shoppers are invited to browse the new store and discover unique finds while supporting a vital local cause.
