£6 million HEAT Essex programme launches to make homes warmer, healthier, and more energy efficient

Essex residents struggling with cold, inefficient homes will soon benefit from a major new energy efficiency initiative. Essex County Council has secured £6 million from the Government’s Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme, which will be delivered through HEAT Essex, managed by Happy Energy Solutions Ltd.

Through the scheme, hundreds of eligible homes across Essex will receive free energy-saving improvements such as insulation, solar panels, and low-carbon heating systems, helping low-income and vulnerable households stay warm and save on their energy bills.

By combining Essex County Council’s commitment to tackling fuel poverty with Happy Energy’s 30+ years of retrofit expertise, the partnership will ensure that support reaches those most in need. The programme will reduce heat loss, lower household bills, and cut carbon emissions while supporting local jobs and skills in the growing green economy.

Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Environment, Waste Reduction and Recycling, Cllr Peter Schwier said:

“This £6 million investment is about more than just warmer homes. It’s about supporting Essex residents by helping them with the impacts of the cost-of-living crisis, improving health and wellbeing, and making substantial progress towards improving the Essex environment.

“Essex County Council is working hard to support our residents through the cost-of-living crisis and this partnership with Happy Energy is helping us make big steps in the right direction. This HEAT Essex programme will help the Essex residents most in need this winter and beyond.”

Adrian Wright, Programme Director at Happy Energy Solutions Ltd., added:

“We’re proud to be delivering the HEAT Essex programme in partnership with Essex County Council. Together, we’re helping residents access vital funding, upgrade their homes, and enjoy lasting improvements in comfort, affordability, and sustainability.”
