Transforming food waste into Michelin star recipes! Edge Hotel School students take action on food waste

The University of Essex's Edge Hotel School recently hosted an inspiring event as part of Food Waste Action Week. This event aimed to raise awareness about the critical issue of food waste and featured three masterclasses.
This included a live cooking demonstration delivered by Michelin-trained Chef, Rowen Halstead.
The chef showcased some sustainable cooking practices and shared tips on how to turn frequently discarded ingredients into delicious dishes. During the event, students also organised a food drive supporting local food banks and promoting the Guardians of Grub campaign.
The event was joined by Essex County Council’s Environment and Climate Action communications team and the Love Essex team who spoke with students about the various initiatives and resources which have been launched to help us all reduce food waste and move towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
