Train operator, Greater Anglia, has been awarded the silver award by Inclusive Employers.
Inclusive Employers is the UK’s leading membership organisation for employers, like Greater Anglia, who are committed to prioritising inclusion and creating truly inclusive workplaces. It was also the first of its type.
The award recognises where a company is regarding inclusion, what it’s doing well, and how it can continue to evolve.
Inclusive Employers highlighted Greater Anglia’s approach to improving gender representation in train drivers and leadership roles, and the variety of ways it engages its staff through annual surveys, interactive events, and peer to peer recognition.
Regular collaboration between frontline colleagues and directors, which enables listening spaces to improve the colleague experience, was also praised. It was also noted that a wide range of HR and operational policies were easy to access and engage with.
Leadership training was praised for being high quality, while Greater Anglia’s staff communications and recognition apps were also highlighted.
The report recommended a number of areas where Greater Anglia could further evolve, such as increasing data collection, and collaborating with other organisations for best practice.
Inclusive Employers said that Greater Anglia should continue to embed its four colleague network groups (LGBTQ+, gender, disability, and religion & ethnicity).
Dawn Robinson, Greater Anglia’s Head of Talent, Resourcing & Development, said: “Greater Anglia focuses an immense amount of effort to adopt and embed a culture of inclusion.
“We are so proud of the progress we have made to attract diverse talent into our business, encourage the growth of new and supportive network communities, and engage our colleagues in learning and sharing ideas."
Emily Pattinson, Senior Inclusive Employers Standard Programme Lead, Inclusive Employers, said: “We are incredibly proud that Greater Anglia has shown a clear commitment to building an inclusive culture and has achieved a silver accreditation.
“In what can feel like an overwhelming time for inclusion and diversity work, organisations like Greater Anglia are part of driving meaningful change.
“By seeking to understand their inclusion development, Greater Anglia demonstrates to others in their sector that they are prioritising their people and creating a culture of impactful inclusion.”
